On Thursday 20 October, the company executed the first successful integrated commissioning test of the integrated Scarlett rig. In this test, solid biomass was gasified, cooled, cleaned and then combusted in a gas turbine combustion chamber, where combustion was achieved using 100 % syngas from gasified biomass.
This test is our first practical test in proving the BTC process of using solid biomass to fuel a gas turbine. In coming tests, the company will add steam and also work with various fules and fuel mixes to identify boundaries and performances of the technology. Hydrogen will also be tested in 2023.
