On August 25, an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) was signed between Phoenix BioPower and a Swedish project developer within BECCS (Bio Energy Carbon Capture and Storage) for the development and construction of a plant for carbon-negative biopower. The facility will tentatively have an output of 16 MWe and be able to capture approximately 100,000 tons of green carbon dioxide each year. The joint objective is that the facility is to be commissioned by 2030 at the latest, with a location in Sweden.

In a comment CEO Henrik Båge says:

- This is a milestone for Phoenix BioPower as it is the company's first agreement towards a first commercial plant with our BTC technology. We estimate that the need for both on-demand and carbon-negative power generation will increase radically over the next 20 years, an assessment that is shared by our counterparty. To receive recognition through this agreement that our BTC technology in combination with technology for carbon capture strengthens our results in that the solution has great potential to become a market leader in the segment.

The counterpart cannot currently be named for contractual reasons but has extensive experience in power generation and carbon capture plants and will be made public at a later date.

MOU undertecknat för en första BTC-BECCS anläggning

Den 25 augusti undertecknades ett MOU (samförståndsavtal) mellan Phoenix BioPower och en svensk projektutvecklare inom BECCS, eller Bio-CCS, för utvecklingen och uppförandet av en anläggning för koldioxidnegativ biokraft. Anläggningen kommer preliminärt har en effekt på 16 MWe och kunna fånga in ca 100 000 ton grön koldioxid varje år. Den gemensamma målsättningen är att anläggningen skall driftsättas senast 2030, med placering i Sverige.

I en kommentar säger VD Henrik Båge:

-Detta är en milstolpe för Phoenix BioPower då det är bolagets första avtal mot en första kommersiell anläggning med vår BTC teknik. Behovet av både reglerbar och koldioxidnegativ kraftproduktion bedömer vi kommer öka radikalt de kommande 20 åren, en bedömning som delas av vår motpart. Att genom detta avtal få erkännande om att vår BTC teknik i kombination med teknik för koldioxidinfångning stärker våra resultat i att lösningen har stor potential att bli marknadsledande inom segmentet.

Motparten kan i dagsläget av avtalsmässiga skäl inte namnges men har god erfarenhet inom anläggningar för kraftproduktion och koldioxidinfångning och kommer offentliggöras vid ett senare tillfälle.
